OLL Visits: One Aldwych Hotel & Health Club

At the weekend my boyfriend took me for a birthday break at the very indulgent One Aldwych Hotel & Health Club in London. It was such a treat and the relaxation was very much needed. Since I started my new job back in September I've not really had a break, so have been feeling really exhausted lately and desperate for a massage. When I arrived we went straight to the Health Club for our full body treatments, which were amazing - and the beds were heated too. After this we ventured into the steam room, then went for a swim in their chlorine-free pool complete with underwater opera music. Mind blown! Our room was lovely too. It overlooked the Strand and we had a plush kingsize bed and a big inviting bath.

For dinner we ate at the Axis restaurant next door, enjoying 3 courses and lots of white wine. The food was really impressive too, especially the chocolate dessert. Made up of ice cream encased in chocolate, a hot sauce was poured over the top after serving, so we watched (and drooled) as it melted before our eyes. Delicious. So as you can imagine, it was back to Earth with a bump yesterday. But I must admit, visiting London has made me feel a lot more festive. I can't wait for my Xmas break now. Only 3 weeks to go and I'm counting down the days on my advent calendars (yes I have 2!).
